Matching Gift Program Details

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation matches employee donations under the guidelines below:

• Educational institutions (K-12 included)
• Health and human services
• Arts and cultural organizations
• Civic and community organizations
• Environmental organizations
• And nearly all other nonprofits

Nonprofit eligibility: Most 501(c)(3) public charities; religious institutions are not matched for exclusively religious purposes.

Faith-based eligibility: Conditional.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Matching Gift Submission Process

Submission mode: Employee Required. Employees should submit the matching gift request through the employer's giving portal or matching process.

1. Find your donation receipt.
2. Open Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's matching-gift portal or employee giving process.
3. Search for the nonprofit you donated to.
4. Enter the donation amount and donation date.
5. Upload or reference your receipt if requested.
6. Submit while the gift is still eligible: within one year of donation date.
